This summer in digital media…

  • Facebook Ads added Website Custom Audiences. Invest in this ad type and ads for your company will show up on facebook to people who visited your website. It’s an extension of your website’s work toward brand recognition and lead generation. Powerful!
  • LinkedIn started rolling out a new premium account called Spotlight. I love the visual profile available with this affordable $7.99/month plan. It really brings the personal profile to life and helps you stand out. It isn’t available to everyone yet. Check it out on my personal LinkedIn Profile.
  • Google called for “HTTPS everywhere” on the web and is adding this as a new way to rank higher. Secure sites require an SSL Certificates. Many small business process transactions offsite with SSL-enabled 3rd parties (shopping carts, pay pal, etc.) but this new search ranking opportunity may be a game changer to push all websites to get a certificate. Will you?
  • Pinterest has added conversation to the mix. You can send a PIN and then talk about it one to one with another pinner. It opens up the door for people to talk one to one about your business! It’s the digital version of Word of Mouth! Thank you, Pinterest.
  • (a new payment processor) is offering merchants a NO FEE plan. That’s right, rather than taking the normal 2-3% plus a .30 per transaction fee, you get $100 when someone pays you $100 in bitcoins. I like that…but who uses bitcoin? Do you?
